Let’s face it – we’re not all master gardeners. Almost everyone has planted something with high expectations that they’re going to have huge, beautiful plants before the end of the season only to be disappointed when their flowers or vegetables and small and almost embarrassing. I’ve found my biggest problem seems to be my watering schedule. For me, I usually forget to water my plants and then once I remember and they’re already starting to look sad and wilty, I just give up out of frustration.
I think Miracle-Gro has been watching my unsuccessful gardens of years past. They’ve come out with a new product that I think might get me to start planting again! Miracle-Gro’s Expand ‘n Gro™ Concentrated Planting Mix is a unique blend of plant food and coir. Coir is an all-natural fiber derived from coconut husk, and can hold up to 50% more water than your normal potting soil. Since the potting mix expands up to 3 times when water is added, you use a lot less, and it helps regulate the amount of water that’s being given to the plant. It’s also really easy to use. If you’re working in a garden, you just spread an inch of Miracle-Gro’s Expand ‘n Gro over the top of your native soil and then mix the Expand ‘n Gro thoroughly with the top 4-6 inches of native soil. If you’re like me, and have to plant in pots, you simply fill your pot a third of the way full (make sure you have a drainage hole in the bottom first) and then add water! The Expand ‘n Gro will almost completely fill the pot just by adding some water! On top of being easy to use and helpful with watering, you’ll see up to 3 times as many flowers and vegetables than if you were using native soil.
Go ahead, make your neighbors jealous. It’s that time of year to start thinking about your garden and plants, so make sure you forgo the normal potting soil and this year try Miracle-Gro’s Expand ‘n Gro Concentrated Planting Mix.
